In 1972 Jeep decided to drop the Gladiator name from its line of pickups and strictly go with the J type designations. So sad, such a powerful name for the macho Jeep 4×4 should’ve stuck around. This Gladiator still wears it’s original armor. It’s got a little wear and tear, bumps and bruises, but overall for a nearly 50 year old truck it looks pretty darn good.
The interior bench seat doesn’t look original. It’s got a red velvet upholstery with a white piping. My hunch is the original Jeep seat was probably vinyl. The owner states this J4000 Gladiator has 93,000 original miles on a V8 and four speed manual transmission. Four wheel drive works and all the belts, hoses and fluids have recently been replaced. This is one cool old Jeep/Willys 4×4 pick up. The Caldwell, Idaho seller has a reserve on the Jeep Gladiator and the bidding is well into the $6,000 range. I’d have to think the reserve can’t be much more than that, but hard to say what it will take to give up your old Gladiator and send it off to a new arena.
